Hourly Positions

Core Builder

The Builders primary focus is to move and insert steel that is known as the transformer core. When this process is complete, the material must be banded and then lifted off the assembly table. This job involves repetition, heavy lifting, and constant hand movement/flexibility. No previous experience is necessary.

Coil Winder
Coil Winders work with machines to wind wire, aluminum foil and paper into transformer coils. This position does not require previous experience, but training is extensive, and opportunities are limited. After training, coil winders must be able to interpret instructions displayed on the machine information screens. This job requires a detail-oriented individual who is proficient in math and reading. Although no previous experience is required, it is preferred due to limited training availability.

A factory welder participates in tank fabrication and the welding of individual transformer parts. In order to be considered for this position, you must have previous welding experience. Both MIG and TIG welding processes are used throughout the plant. Initially, welding skills are evaluated through a practical weld test. Candidates for welding positions must achieve a preestablished minimum score on this test before they will be eligible for a position as a welder. Previous Experience is required for any welding positions.

The duties of the painter/washer positions vary dependent upon the painting process where they are located. In general, these positions are dedicated to handling material to be painted, preparation of materials for paint, powder painting, and wet spraying. There are positions for both manual and automated painting/washing. In these positions, team members will ensure that all surfaces that receive paint are properly prepared, sufficiently covered, and adequately cured. Some Painters/Washers will spend most of their time using various types of spray guns to manually coat surfaces. Previous painting experience is preferred but not required.

Electrical Tester

The Electrical Tester position evaluates the electrical function of every transformer produced in the factory. This evaluation is used to ensure that each transformer is safe, reliable, and ready for shipment. The bulk of a Testers time is used to set-up and perform electrical testing, conduct troubleshooting, engage in problem solving, and complete lead connection. No previous experience is required for this position, but general electrical knowledge is preferred.

A Tanker installs assembled core/coils into tanks, installs electrical connection points, stations tank covers on units, pulls vacuum for moisture removal, and finally fill transformers with oil. No previous experience is required.

Material Handler
Material handlers tend to use forklifts to safely transport materials, assemblies, and finished transformers. Each position is required to use scan guns to scan materials in and out of physical locations. Some positions also involve unloading materials from incoming trucks and loading trucks for deliveries to customers. Previous forklift experience is preferred, but not required.

Final Assembly and Decal
The final assembly and decal position is in charge of finalizing the exterior of each transformer produced in the factory. This position works to add external accessories, stencils, and decals onto tanks.
